THE PARTNERS

Margaret Large

The team is led by Margaret Large who is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. She has been responsible for achieving the firm’s membership of AVN. Outside of the practice Margaret leads a busy life with a wide variety of interests that include being secretary to a successful Business Breakfast Group, Treasurer to the local Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer of the local Pony Club and a Church Warden.

David Large

Her husband David is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and as well as dealing with a portfolio of clients he is responsible for the internal management of the firm and developing and implementing systems. He is a keen member of the local Rotary Club of which he is the President this year.

CONSULTANT

Brian Hockin

Brian Hockin has worked as an accountant and business advisor for many years and over that time built up his own practice until he merged it with our firm some 10 years ago. Brian specialises in advising clients in the Freight industry and is well respected for his knowledge and advice to enable them to trade profitably in what is a difficult industry with ever increasing fuel costs. In his spare time Brian likes nothing better than to unwind with a round of golf.

ACCOUNT MANAGERS

John Bartlett

John Bartlett is the team member who, as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Institute of Tax is responsible for much of the tax work within the practice. John is an able tennis player and he also is an avid collector of old films.

Sue Ackland

Sue Ackland, who is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is responsible for her own portfolio of clients and she brings a tremendous wealth of experience to the team dealing with many of the firm’s farming clients and those in the tourism industry. She is the Devon County Treasurer for the Girl Guide Association.

Sally Ann Balment

The youngest member of the team is Sally Ann Balment who is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and she handles most of the firm’s Payroll Bureau work together with dealing with the computerised bookkeeping requirements of a number of clients. Sally Ann is Secretary to her local Young Farmers group and assists on the family farm.

Cyril Gould

Cyril Gould has years of experience in dealing with his own portfolio of clients and he has a wide knowledge of the farming industry together with much of the other industry, trade and commerce evident in the rural and coastal economy of the area. Cyril is well known locally as a Bee Keeper and he shares this passion with gardening.

Graham Wright

Graham Wright is our newest recruit having initially been trained by us in the early 1990’s. After leaving he has held appointments in industry as a management accountant in the motor industry and in agricultural supplies. Graham’s hobby is breeding pedigree pigs and his expertise has enabled one of his animals to be awarded Best of Breed at the Royal Show.

SUPPORT TEAM

Lorna Nott

Lorna Nott handles much of the firm’s VAT work and is very experienced in dealing with accounts preparation for sole proprietors and small businesses. As a livestock farmer she is very aware of the problems facing the industry and her advice is invaluable when dealing with this sector.

Claire Mead

Claire Mead has recently joined us to help with administration and accounts preparation. She has trained in Business Management and also has an equine and farming background. Claire in addition is involved in the hospitality industry running her own catering company.
